The secret of Blend

There are many delicacies that my hometown offers to you. Some are agricultural crops, seafood, even red meat. But we all know that one of the best things that Silang offers to us is our coffee. There are many arguments about who has the best coffee. Well then let’s compare the “kapeng barako” of Cavite and Batangas.

 It all started to a Spanish Franciscan monk who introduced the coffee to Lipa, Batangas. This greatly affect the economy of Batangas, because they reached the top. They became the number 1 distributor of coffee worldwide. Its glory  days had ended when Batangas was infected by this pest who eats the coffee. Because of this most of coffee tree were transferred to Cavite. That was the time when cavite gets its reign in the Philippines coffee history. Now, Batangas and Cavite are great competitors in terms of producing the most brewed and delicious coffee in the Philippines.

The coffee of Cavite and Batangas differ only in the process of making. In my hometown their houses have “patio” this is a big space in front of their house. After harvesting the coffee they will dry it there for around one week. I believe that this is one of the best secret that Cavite has. While in Batangas, because they are one of the biggest coffee producer, the coffee will go straight to the factories. But again let’s face it, they both have this distinct taste that every Filipino would love to taste. That is their similarity, the taste that will make the Filipino proud of their own Coffee.

If you want to taste the true “kapeng barako” you can visit the nearby towns of Cavite. If you are from Manila and want to visit Cavite, just take slex then Sta. Rosa exit. Go straight to Tagaytay, there are many coffee shops there that offers “kapeng barako.” If you don’t have car, then you can take a bus going to Balibago, then ride a tricycle at the terminal of Balibago going to paseo then wait for a jeepney that will bring you to Tagaytay. That is how easy going to Cavite. Try ours and you will love it as much as you love starbucks coffee.    

Best of the Best

              I remember someone asked me, “where do you live?” I answered her, “I’m from Cavite.” Then she said that Cavite is one of the best in terms of food delicacies. Whatever you want, whatever you need, whatever you like, we have it in our place. Cavite is one of the most versatile province that you can visit. Agricultural, “lutong-bahay”, red meats, or even sea foods we have it in our province.

             One of the most fertile lands in the Philippines is Cavite. We have the richest soil that is best for planting. That’s why our Governor maximized the natural resources we have. Did you know that aside from Batangas, we are one of the best producer of “Kapeng Barako.” Not only that we also have coconuts and vegetables to offer. Cavite is one of the best producers of red meat. Many people all over the place go to tagaytay jus to buy beef, pork, and even chicken. Its just shows us that Cavite province is one of the best. Aside from red meat, we also offer sea foods. We are very famous of our all time best seller tahong. We are the biggest producer of tahong in our country. Who would resist with our mouth-watering tahong? No one, because even me who don’t eat sea food, after tasting it I want to eat it everyday.

             Different classification but describes only one, the richness of Cavite province. Come on and experience how great my province is. I can assure you that you will not only enjoy the culture and tourist sites that we have but also the very delicious foods that we served. Lets enjoy these experience in just one place, the heart of southern Luzon, Cavite.  

Karakol

              One of the most awaited event in the history of Silang, Cavite’s town fiesta is the Karakol. What is Karakol? It is a Philippine street dancing that is usually held in town and barangay fiesta in Cavite. The patron saint was included in the street dancing of barangay. Karakol  is being done at the third day of the town or barangay fiesta.

            

             According to our ancestors, karakol is done to ask for the rain. But the definition of karakol now is to give thanks for a prosperous year. They also put a modern touch and it now became a street dance competition. Everyone can join the said event. We can see people dancing with their colorful costumes at all ages, same thru with the “karatig” barangay who already join the said event.

          

            As I interview the people joining the event they told me that they are not tired even though they walked very far. According to them, joining karakol can cure sickness. That’s why up to now people joining them getting stronger and livelier.   

The Beauty of Silang

Stress, deadline, exams, this is all what a college student experiences. I thought that it would just be as easy as 1, 2, 3. I’m wrong, because they say that in the universities they are training you how to manage yourself with this all deadlines. We are also humans who needs break from this stress life. What a best way for me to have that break is when we are in Silang, Cavite.

            Having a Baguio like temperature, far from the stress city, and most especially having a break with your family is one of the best way to enjoy Silang. Every time I go there I always pass by our church. It was one of the oldest church here in the Philippines. The place was at the middle of the town, but as what most people say despite it’s in the middle of the town the church still maintains its solemnity. It was renovated for the convenience of the people but they still remains some of the structures that was there 400 years ago.

            “Fu-Jang” one of the most popular restaurants in our town. It is situated 500 meters away from the church. With all its mouth-watering food at an affordable price you can’t resist to ask for extra rice. One of my favorite food here is their chicken barbecue. You can see how they cook the food because they will only cook it when you place an order. Make sure that the sauce that you will pair is the vinegar with spices. The place is very cozy so you will feel at home when you are here. 

The next attraction that Silang has is their wet market. We have one of the cleanest, most affordable and freshest goods. Most people from Sta. Rosa come here just to buy fresh fruits and vegetables and of course fish and meat. But that’s not all our market offers. We have RTW clothes there and also slippers or shoes that fit just right. What else you can ask for? A complete life in one of the biggest towns in Cavite.

A trip to Silang would not be complete if you don’t try to eat at “Ate Yeyeng’s Catering and Restaurant.” I am proud to say that it can compete with other restaurants in the country. Everything that you want they have it here. I promise you that if you try this you will forget your name because the food here is very delicious. It’s like eating in a fine dining restaurant at the heart of Silang.

Ending my vacation here with my relatives is so much fun. It feels like I’ve been to Baguio because of the cool temperature. At the same time, I feel at home because this is my place where I belong where my heart and soul are designated. Silang Cavite a place where you can rest at the same time enjoy and forget all the stress in the city. J

Skillistening

Screaming, shouting, talking people, sounds from your Ipod. Anything produces sounds. We people always hear this, its part of our lives. But do we value what we hear?

Let’s all admit it, we sometimes tend to ignore what other people saying. In my personal experience, my friends and I usually fight because of misunderstanding. Because I didn’t listen and I didn’t analyze what they said.  Which led to other meaning of what they said. Sometimes I over analyze what I heard that again led to misunderstanding.

It’s just showed us that less and too much is bad when we listen.  So what is it’s implication to us? We people should listen and understand it very well. After that we should clarify if we understand it correctly. So that we can avoid misunderstanding. God gave us ears to use it on the right thing and not to make us evil. Value this because we are lucky that we have this skill for us to communicate with other people. 

Born to be a Hero!

Who would think that the next national hero was born 17 years ago?

June 19, 1994, the day that will mark the history, why? Because I was born on this day. The next national hero of the Philippines is born. It may sound funny for most of you but let’s accept and face it. It was a stormy morning in Calamba, Laguna, where our current national hero was born also. Don’t you think it’s just a coincident? No, because this is what God wants to happen. A child that will follow the footsteps of Dr. Jose Rizal should be born on the day when Rizal was born also. 

Rizal and I have many similarities. Not only we were both born in Calamba at exactly the same date. Like Rizal, I am also a scholar of the most prestige school here in the country. I may not be the most excellent student but I’m striving to be the best for myself. We both have a very strong faith to God. I believe that God should be first before anyone else. Then, after God the family will be next. Both of us love our family so much to the point that we will sacrifice ourselves for them. But like Rizal, I also aim to help with the best of my ability my fellow countrymen.

My high school friends used to tease me “Dr. Feel”. Then I said, why are you calling me that way? They answered because I am always helping those people who need advice in their life. They said that I always know what is best to do in a particular situation. Almost all people I’ve helped always say that I am their hero, I am their savior. So in this way I became a hero for them. Even though it’s not like as big as Dr. Jose Rizal  achievement but I am proud to say that I change lives in my own little ways. I am born to be a hero and I believe that everyone of us is like me. We may not be as best as Dr. Jose Rizal, but in our own little way we became hero for others. Yes, God gave this life because we have a purpose to be fulfilled. Dr. Jose Rizal purpose is to help us free from the colonizer. My purpose is to help who is in need. Like what the De La Salle Canlubang gave me. Again let’s live like a Hero and be part of our own history. J 

FREE WRITING

Hello, this is my 2nd blog! Yay! Can't believe that i'm enjoying writing blog! :)

Free writing activity is so much fun. It gives me the courage to tell all what I feel in the paper. We all know that guys are so much secretive. As much as possible we don’t want other people knows our secret. But because of this activity all my hard and good feelings were brought outside my mind and my heart. The activity was divided into two parts. The first part is we are given 5 minutes to write anything that is in our mind. This part is I like the most, why? Because it opens me, myself, who am I as human being, what I’m thinking in a particular moment. This gives the writer all the freedom that he wants in writing anything or most of us calling “random thoughts”. The second part is also quite good. We were given a topic/question and we need to write something about that in 5 minutes. The question is “what are we going to do in weekends?”. This part, I felt more the pressure because I believe that most of us will be doing limited things on our weekend. That’s why there are only little things that we will be writing on the paper. But all in all the activity captured our skills in thinking and writing. It’s part of discovering  ourselves as we discover new things and insights.
